Golf Courses in Girona and the Costa Brava 2026: 14 Courses, Green Fees and Where to Live

Golf de Pals from the air: fairways between umbrella pines running towards the sea at Pals

The province of Girona has 14 golf facilities registered with the Catalan Golf Federation: ten courses of 18 holes or more, two nine-hole courses and two par-3 courses. Six are close to the coast around Pals and Platja d'Aro, four are inland, including Camiral near Girona airport, which will host the 2031 Ryder Cup, and four are up in the Pyrenees. In 2026 an adult pays €116 for 18 holes at Golf de Pals and €87 to €114 at Club de Golf Costa Brava, depending on the season.

Picture a couple from Dublin who play twice a week and want a house they can use from March to November. On the Costa Brava they wouldn't have to choose between golf and the sea. In Santa Cristina d'Aro they could live on the residential estate around Club de Golf Costa Brava, with Golf d'Aro up the hill. Golf de Pals is next to the beach at Pals, and Camiral is 6 km from Girona airport. What they need to decide is which kind of place they want to live in.

Below are all 14 facilities with the figures the clubs and the federation publish, the 2026 prices, what the Ryder Cup means for Camiral, and three ways to live near a course.

All 14 golf courses in the province of Girona

The list follows the Catalan Golf Federation (catgolf.com). Holes, par and opening year come from the clubs, the Spanish Golf Federation and the Costa Brava tourist board. Green fees are for 18 holes and only where the club publishes its 2026 prices.

Club de Golf Costa Brava charges €87 from November to February and €114 from March to October. Real Club de Golf de Cerdaña's prices are for its mid-season (14 March to 8 December 2026, excluding Easter and August); prices are different in low season, at Easter and in August. Camiral shows prices only in its online booking system and doesn't publish a price list.

Camiral and the 2031 Ryder Cup

Camiral, formerly PGA Catalunya, has two 18-hole courses designed by Ángel Gallardo and Neil Coles: the Stadium (6,588 metres from the back tees, opened in 1999) and the Tour (5,901 metres, opened in 2005). Ryder Cup Europe announced on 22 July 2025 that the 2031 Ryder Cup will be played there. The dates haven't been announced yet.

The resort has a long history of hosting tournaments: the Spanish Open in 2000, 2009 and 2014, the DP World Tour Catalunya Championship in 2022 and the Qualifying School final stage nine years in a row, from 2008 to 2016. Ryder Cup Europe says the Catalunya Championship returns to Camiral in 2028, 2029 and 2030. In 2026 both courses closed for part of the summer for improvement works; both have been fully open since October.

For a buyer the location matters as much as the tournament history. According to the club, it is 6 km from Girona-Costa Brava airport and 17 km from the high-speed rail station in Girona. The resort also sells villas, townhouses, apartments and plots. It is an inland resort, and you won't see the sea from it.

Courses near the sea: Baix Empordà

Golf de Pals opened in 1966 and the club calls it the oldest course on the Costa Brava. Its 18 holes, designed by F. W. Hawtree, are next to the beach at Pals, and an adult pays €116 for 18 holes in 2026. Serres de Pals, a nine-hole course from 1990, is 2 km from the beach according to the club and costs €80 for two rounds.

Club de Golf Costa Brava in Santa Cristina d'Aro opened its first 18 holes in 1968 and now has 27. The course sits inside a residential estate, which matters if you want to live by the course rather than visit it. Golf d'Aro Mas Nou sits about 300 metres above sea level in the Gavarres hills, and the club says the sea is 15 minutes away. The photo below shows the view towards the coast from one of its fairways.

Empordà Golf has two 18-hole courses by Robert von Hagge and Rick Baril, Dunes and Forest; the tourist board describes Dunes as a links course. The club has hosted Challenge Tour events and a stage of the DP World Tour Qualifying School.

Inland and in the Pyrenees

In the Alt Empordà, Golf Peralada (1993, 18 holes plus a pitch and putt) has its own hotel. Torremirona in Navata (1992, 18 holes) also has a hotel next to the course. Mas Pagès, a course of 18 par-3 holes open since 1989, is about 15 minutes from Girona, Figueres, Banyoles and L'Escala, according to the Catalan Golf Federation.

High in the Pyrenees, the Cerdanya valley has three clubs: the Real Club de Golf de Cerdaña, founded in 1929, Fontanals, which hosted the Spanish Challenge in 2025, and Golf Sant Marc, less than a kilometre from Puigcerdà. Then there are the nine holes at Camprodon in the Ripollès. These are mountain courses, far from the beach.

Can you play in winter?

Yes, and for buyers from northern Europe that matters. At Girona airport, AEMET's long-term records (1981 to 2010) give an average January maximum of 13.1 °C and about 66 days a year with at least 1 mm of rain. The same station records about 41 days of frost a year, so a cold morning inland is normal in winter. Club de Golf Costa Brava, for example, has separate winter green fees.

Catalonia had 30,581 licensed golfers at the end of 2025, 9.6% of the Spanish total, according to the Spanish Golf Federation. A figure for the province of Girona alone isn't publicly available.

Living near a golf course: three options

Inside a golf estate. Club de Golf Costa Brava in Santa Cristina d'Aro and Camiral in Caldes de Malavella both have homes inside the estate. You walk to the first tee, but you pay community fees and accept the estate's rules. At Golf Costa Brava the barriers are open by day, so it isn't a gated estate. Ask every estate what its fees cover.

A coastal town nearby. Platja d'Aro and Sant Feliu de Guíxols keep their shops and restaurants open all year, with Golf d'Aro and Golf Costa Brava close by. Pals and Begur are near the two Pals courses but much quieter between November and Easter. The house keeps its appeal as a seaside home even if you play less golf later.

Coast and mountains. You can keep the house on the coast and play the Cerdanya courses in summer, when the coast is busy and the mountains are cooler. It is a lifestyle choice rather than a property one, but it is worth knowing about before you choose a town.

Near Club de Golf Costa Brava we are currently selling Villa Golf, a 730 m² house with its own tennis court, in the same estate as the course. For the rest of the coast, see our guides to the best areas to buy on the Costa Brava and to the towns that stay alive all year.

Before you compare houses, it helps to know two numbers: what a square metre costs in each town, in our Costa Brava price per m² by town, and how much tax you will pay on top of the price, in our purchase tax guide with a calculator.

Three checks before you buy for golf

Find out how the club works. Some clubs are members' clubs with joining fees and waiting lists, others sell green fees to everyone. A house in the estate doesn't automatically come with the right to play. Ask the club, not the seller, which membership a new owner can buy.

Drive the route at the time you would play. Golf d'Aro is about 300 metres up in the hills, so the drive takes longer than the map suggests, and coastal roads are busier in July and August.

Think about resale. A house that only works for golfers has fewer buyers. A house that works for a family on holiday and also happens to be near a course is easier to sell later.
